Rooted in Nature, Designed for a New Generation
At Wild Type Learning, we believe the future of education begins at the roots - where child development, nature connection, and embodied learning intertwine to form a foundation for whole, healthy, inspired humans.
Our innovative, nature-based philosophy is grounded in a deep respect for the rhythms of childhood and the intelligence of the living world. Set entirely outdoors, our programs take place in forested environments that invite children to move freely, engage their senses, and build meaningful relationships with the natural world. We view nature not only as a playground, but as a co-teacher - offering biodiversity, texture, awe, and healthy challenges that build resilience, curiosity, and empathy. Backed by growing scientific research, we know that time in nature restores the nervous system, supports emotional regulation, and strengthens physical and cognitive development.
Movement, mindfulness, and creativity are core to everything we do. Through yoga adventures, expressive dance, nature exploration, music, storytelling, and sensory-rich play, children are given the freedom to learn with their whole bodies. We integrate developmentally-informed tools such as breathwork, emotional regulation practices, and collaborative play to foster emotional intelligence, confidence, and connection. Our goal is to support children in becoming grounded, self-aware, and adaptable - like a tree rooted deeply in the earth, yet reaching freely toward the sky.
Wild Type Learning draws from a multidisciplinary approach that honors each child’s unique pace, style, and inner wisdom. With a strong foundation in early childhood development and Montessori philosophy, our curriculum weaves together nature science, early literacy and numeracy, and emergent inquiry-based learning. As a certified Montessori educator with years of classroom experience, I’ve seen firsthand how the principles of independence, purposeful work, and respect for the child create a powerful framework for learning - especially when brought outdoors. Learning unfolds organically in a prepared natural environment that encourages exploration, autonomy, and the joy of discovery.
In a time when many children are experiencing rising rates of anxiety, disconnection, and sensory overwhelm, we see it as essential to return to what is most natural: movement, play, and real-world connection. Wild Type Learning offers a revolutionary, yet deeply intuitive, response to modern childhood - one that recognizes the whole child, nurtures their inner world, and prepares them to experience life with joy and presence.
